Thanks for visiting! I’m Toby Danylchuk, and I’m co-founder (with my wife Paula) of 39 Celsius Web Marketing Consulting and this blog.
We’re an online consulting agency focused on solving marketing issues that most small and medium-sized businesses face — driving more leads at a
lower cost and continually improving all marketing efforts primarily through SEO, PPC, social media, and email marketing. We write about these issues too on our blog and occasionally touch on traditional marketing.
We try to publish content on our blog at least once a week, but honestly, sometimes we publish more frequently, and other times we might only publish a couple times per month. Like you, we’re a small business and if things are busy then the blog suffers. I’d love it if you subscribed to our blog, you can do it here. We have great content and you can unsubscribe whenever you like.
My goal in publishing content on our blog is to produce insightful and helpful articles that draw on my 20+ years of real-world entrepreneurship and marketing, and that provides SMBs tips to improve their own marketing efforts and make more informed decisions that lead to improved ROI and cash flow.
I have been interested in marketing and entrepreneurship most of my adult life, and online marketing, in particular, the last 10 years. Ironically my undergrad degree was in biochemistry from the University of California at San Diego. Of course, I really had no professional interest in that field, which began in a lab for a La Jolla biotech company. After a couple years in the lab I moved into sales, and from there went on to complete an MBA from San Diego State University.
Part of what makes me unique in online marketing, and someone that offers a valuable perspective, is that I have 20 years of very diverse real-world business experience. I spent several years in management consulting after I completed my MBA where I worked with large companies (Toyota, Daimler-Chrysler, Adobe, Texas Instruments to name a few) on industry analysis, competitor analysis, and deal flow for merger and acquisition clients. Most importantly, I learned a lot about how large companies develop business strategies and solve complex business problems.
Real-World Entrepreneurship, Online Marketing
After my 2-year stint as a management consultant, my wife and I had the crazy idea to start our own small retail business importing medium to high-end furniture out of Latin America. And it’s here that I cut my teeth on how to run and implement successful marketing and advertising campaigns.
We started with a tiny store, but after 5 years had grown it 5-fold and we were selling custom made, handcrafted furniture and home decor nationwide.
This was all possible because I had built an online e-commerce store with a nationwide presence that ranked between position 1-3 for dozens of industry terms specific to our business in all three search engines, Google, Bing, and Yahoo. I learned a wealth of information not only on how to compete online, but how to handle operations for an Internet company, and most importantly about how to effectively communicate to customers online.
So when I talk to clients about marketing tactics, or when I write on my blog, I’m drawing on multiple perspectives and “in-the-trenches” real-world experience from having my own skin in the game, from having a formal business education, and from large corporate consulting experience. I’m passionate about what I do, a little opinionated, but only because I’ve seen and tried almost every type of marketing or advertising tactic out there.
